At the center of the mesmerizing rolling fields, lived a boy named Shepherd. His existence was mostly unadulterated, simple yet virtuous. His only responsibility was essentially to look after his herd of ewes.

The boy giggled at the dilemma on their faces. This prank continued for a few more days. However, one day, a real wolf did come to prey the flock. The shepherd boy raced for aid screaming “Wolf, Wolf!” But this time, no one showed up.

Frustrated and alone, the boy battled against the wolf but managed to protect only few of his flock. Heartbroken, he went back to the town only to receive a reprimand on honesty and the consequences of dishonesty.

The story of this shepherd boy has been transmitted generations as a mediaeval parable to teaching the value of honesty, the consequences of lying and the perils of false alarms.
